Again, you're sidestepping and avoiding. Do you have any idea how long and involved the process of purchasing a gun is in the US?

Ted: I didn’t get back on the speeding thing. They recently did some tests here in the UK for a similar thing. They removed traffic lights, and took out road markings etc. People actually drove slower, and I think there were fewer accidents.

They say it was down to people being confused, and having to pay more attention to their surroundings while driving. A good thing possibly, but having drivers confused is probably not. They have put it all back - at least for now.

I still think that 30mph and 40mph limits work very well. Residential areas would probably be intolerable without them - and people would go over the lower limits regularly.

Dharmagrl: I presume there are quite a few checks for weapons. It would be insane to just give them out, right!? Because... errr... guns are dangerous in the wrong hands.

Also, if you have any photos or x-rays of anyone with an Uzi in their rectum.. I would like to see one. I bet not one person in the history of the world has ever hidden a sub-machine gun in their ass.... What are you like?

I’m talking about guns; legal, illegal: it doesn’t really matter. The point is that the legal aspect makes it a lot easier for people to get hold of them illegally. The high availability of them in N.O. when I started this thread posed a problem. There were places with large amounts of firearms virtually open to the public and there was a serious amount of looting going on.

Is it better that everyone has guns in a state of emergency, or no one?
